Greetings Pro-Choice Washingtonians!
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington’s wheels go round through the support of our wonderful volunteers and interns! If you want a fun, meaningful and engaging volunteer experience, then NARAL is the place to be! We have a wide variety of opportunities: from working in our office to helping educate our community about anti-choice fake clinics that prey on women, to working on the important primary electoral candidate and initiative campaigns and leadership building internships. All of these activities are crucial to keep reproductive rights in the forefront and to keep our movement going.
Below you will find volunteer opportunities at exciting summer festivals, around our office, watching a wonderful play and internships for choice! Please contact me for more information or to sign you up.
TABLING FOR CHOICE AT LOCAL SUMMER FESTIVALS
Volunteers can choose any 3 hours to volunteer at our upcoming tabling events throughout the summer. Duties will include: mingling with the crowd and engaging people in NARAL’s education about anti-choice fake clinics and gathering petition signatures (a brief orientation on messaging points and current petitions will be provided).
Upcoming Tabling Events:
- West Seattle Summer Fest July 10th and 11th
- Redmond Derby Days July 10th and 11th
- White Center Jubilee Days July 17th and 18th
- Renton River Days July 23rd, July 24th and 25th
- Tacoma Ethnic Fest July 24th and 25th
Our office volunteers do a wide variety of administrative duties including: important data entry, outreach for events, research on issues, and preparing bulk mailings. NARAL Pro-Choice Washington does not mess around… we work hard in our office but we have a ton of fun.
SEE CIDER HOUSE RULES FOR FREE AND VOLUNTEER AT THE SAME TIME!
Book-It Repertory Theater is highlighting NARAL as a community partner for their performance of “The Cider House Rules: Part I.” Book-It has given NARAL an information table in the lobby of the Center House Theater. Tabling volunteers mingle with theater-goers; provide them with information about our anti-choice fake clinic legislation, and GET TO SEE THE PLAY FOR FREE! There are only a few shows left, some matinees and some evening performances until July 11th. Tabling volunteers are asked to be at the theater through the first intermission (~2 hours).
SUPPORT NARAL FROM THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN CAR
Pick-up auction donations and bring them to the NARAL office. Pick-up volunteers will receive a weekly e-mail from me with a list of items that need to be picked up by neighborhood. Once you commit to picking up an item(s), I will send you complete details about the donor’s address, phone number, and hours of availability.
PHONE BANKING FOR ALASKA’S NO ON 2 CAMPAIGN
NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is proud to work in coalition with our pro-choice partners to fight a parental notification ballot initiative in Alaska. In order to protect teens in Alaska, and to prevent a similar ballot initiative from coming to Washington, it is essential that we defeat this initiative! The way we defeat it is through voter education in Alaska, and we are taking an all-hands-on-deck-approach. Phone banking takes place on Tuesday evenings at Planned Parenthood on Capitol Hill. Contact me to sign up for one of the many Tuesday evening shifts available.
